The Squirrel Nut Zippers are a jazz band formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina by James "Jimbo" Mathus (vocals and guitar), Katharine Whalen (vocals, banjo, and ukelele), and sidemen Chris Phillips, Don Raleigh and Ken Mosher.

While the band's eclectic fusion of Delta blues, gypsy jazz, 1930s-era swing, klezmer, and other styles made them hard to categorize, their quirky music found a niche in the late 1990s. Their second album, Hot (1996) was certified platinum in 1997.

While the band broke up in 2001, amidst an acrimonious dispute over their management agreement and royalties, a modified line-up was put together in 2007 for performances in the US and Canada.

Laleh Pourkarim -born June 10, 1982 in Bandar-e Anzali, Iran- is an Iranian-Swedish singer-songwriter.

She came to Sweden when she was 12 and went to school in Angered, Gothenburg. Before that she had lived in Azerbaijan and Minsk, Belarus.

She personally produced and wrote her 2005 self-titled debut album, in which she sang in three different languages: English, Swedish and Persian.

At the Swedish Grammis Awards for 2005, she received seven nominations and won three: Artist of the Year, Producer of the Year, and New Artist of the Year.

She also had a major acting role in the Swedish movie Jalla! Jalla!, directed by Josef Fares, which was a big success at the Swedish box office in 2000.

She is a daughter of Houshang Pourkarim, a prominent Iranian sociologist from Bandar Anzali

Corinne was 17 years old in Lille, France when she learnt to play drums and set up her first female band. Since then she became the singer and leader of such ambitious musical projects In the same period, she discovered a passion for Jazz songs and performed in a trio with Stéphane Bularz on bass and Stéphan Orins on piano. Performing in Tunisia, she met a young saxophonist Lisa Cat-Berro and returned home, joining of the trio in the quintet with Eric Navet on drums. After singing Jazz in France on stage in concerts and festivals* , Corinne Letellier is now asserting her own style at the Tanjazz Festival in Morrocco, performing for the first time one of her songs Tanja, the story of a girl who feels lost in Tanger. This song has captured media attention, audiences as well as critics have been both very enthusiastic. This made her decide to continue in that direction. Living in Marseille since 2003, shes written new songs and has met young talented musicians.

The spectacle FRENCH SONGS IN JAZZY COLORS takes shape and meets its audience for the first time at the Jean Sénac Theater. She has recently recorded le calice in Skopje (Macédonia) under Olivier Samouillans (Zlust, Mina Agossi)artistic direction, an original French songs repertoire, mostly written and composed by herself, about lifes stories drawn as pictures made of different colors from Jazz, to Oriental and Latin music, that she sings with a particular emotion. Coming from both the Jazz and pop scenes, the musicians create an acoustic atmosphere to give the songs a real poetic dimension.

Theodor Bikel

Theodor Meir Bikel is an Academy Award- and Tony Award-nominated character actor, folk singer and musician. He made his film debut in The African Queen (1951) and was nominated for an Academy award for his role as the Southern Sheriff in The Defiant Ones (1958).

Bikel started acting as a teenager in Israel, and began a small theater there before moving to London to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After several plays and films in Europe, he moved to the United States in 1954.

On Broadway he originated the role of Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music in 1959, for which he received his second Tony nomination. In 1964, he played Zoltan Karpathy, the dialect expert, in the film version of My Fair Lady. Bikel was screentested for the role of Auric Goldfinger in the James Bond film Goldfinger (1964). The screentest can be seen on the "Ultimate Edition" DVD released in 2006.

In the 1950's, Thedore Bikel produced and sang in several albums of Jewish folk songs, as well as Songs of a Russian Gypsy, in 1958. In 1962 he heard Bob Dylan give his premiere performance of "Blowin' in the Wind." Bikel then went to his scheduled performance and became the first singer besides Dylan to perform the song in public.

Nightlosers "Transylvanian Rhythm & Blues"

Few of you have heard of Nightlosers. They're a jazz-blues band with folkloric influences from Romania. They sing in English (not entirely) and their albums have sold ten times better abroad than in Romania. This is pure genius. The film director, Hano Hoffer, leads this band!

Di Grine Kuzine

Based in Berlin, Di Grine Kuzine, which means “the greenhorn cousin” have toured throughout Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Austria. The band with the unusual instrumentation of accordion, drums, tuba, trumpet, saxophone and voice has an unmistakeable sound: full of energy, danceable and compactly arranged. The result is very personal, with a heart-quickening freshness and sense of humour with which they have won themselves a loyal audience which spans all generations.
